We collect information you provide when creating an account, such as your name, email address, date of birth, and phone number. We also collect information about how you use Moveguide, including your search queries, property interests, and conversation history with Avis. For Membership, we use your bookings to work out your level and points, and keep a record of your points, stay credit and the gifts you send — including the first name you give for a friend, which is shown to them on the gift.
We use your information to provide and improve our services, personalise your experience with Avis, send you relevant property recommendations, and communicate with you about your account. We may also use anonymised data to improve our housing intelligence platform.
Your conversations with Avis are used to build a personalised living profile that helps us provide better property recommendations. This data is stored securely and never sold to third parties. You can request deletion of your conversation data at any time through your account settings.
When you give one of Avis's answers a thumbs up or down, we keep that rating with the answer and the question you asked before it, to make Avis better. Tap the same thumb again to take it back. Each conversation is about one stay. While you chat, it's kept in your browser for that tab, so a reload or a dropped connection doesn't lose it. If you're signed in, it's also kept with your account — including what you said before signing in, and a short summary of a long conversation so Avis keeps up — so you can pick it up any time from History or by opening the stay again. You can delete your conversations from your profile at any time.
Your Passport is a number that never changes and a 6-digit passcode you set. You can add to it — about you, how you like to stay, allergies and sensitivities, health conditions to plan around, what you love to do, your interests and your goals — so Avis can make every search safer and more personal. You can also choose to add who you are (such as sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, relationship, pregnancy, disability, ethnic background and religion); these are sensitive, entirely optional, kept only with your explicit consent, and used only to look out for you — never to limit what you can book.
If you use “Tell Avis about yourself”, what you say is turned into text by OpenAI and what you say or type is read by Anthropic to suggest answers for you to check. Neither the recording nor the text is kept by Moveguide, and neither service uses them to train its models. Only the answers you confirm are saved.
Those preferences are locked with your passcode. Moveguide's team cannot read them, and neither can anyone with access to our database. They are opened only when you unlock your Passport. Once unlocked, your Passport stays on in that browser — across pages and tabs — until you sign out (or for 12 hours if you unlocked it without signing in); a private window starts without it. When you save changes to it, the unlocked copy takes them at once; when you change or reset your passcode, it's locked again until you unlock it with the new one. You can switch it off and on at any time from the small Passport switch in Avis and in the search. While it's on, your preferences are sent to the AI service that writes Avis's replies (Anthropic) for each reply — it does not use them to train its models. Avis's replies tailored to your Passport are never stored for other people. The sites where you use Moveguide's search never receive them.
The parts of your Passport Moveguide can see are your emergency contact and your health insurer and policy number, so we can reach someone or help you at a hospital if something goes wrong on a stay. If you turn on event alerts, a copy of your activities and interests (nothing else) is also kept where we can match it to events during your stays; turning alerts off deletes it.
If you forget your passcode, resetting it deletes your preferences: nobody, Moveguide included, can open them without it. Your Passport number and emergency contact stay. After five wrong passcodes in a row, a Passport locks for 15 minutes.
If you use Avis voice mode, your voice is converted to text locally in your browser. Audio is processed by ElevenLabs to generate Avis's spoken responses. We do not store your voice recordings. ElevenLabs processes audio in accordance with their privacy policy.
After a stay you can leave a star rating and a written review. It's shown publicly on the stay's page with your first name and the month of your stay, never your full name, contact details or booking. Before it shows, names of the place, addresses, contact details and links are taken out, and a review may be held back if it's abusive. The host can see your review and reply to it.
Hosts can also rate you as a guest after your stay. That rating is private to Moveguide: it's never shown to you, to other hosts or to anyone else, and we use it only to keep stays safe and fair.
We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited data with trusted service providers who help us operate Moveguide, including Anthropic and OpenAI (for Avis intelligence), ElevenLabs (for voice responses), and Supabase (for data storage). All providers are bound by strict data protection agreements.
Moveguide complies with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR). If you are located in the European Economic Area, we also comply with GDPR. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You may also opt out of marketing communications through your account settings. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@moveguide.co
